THE GOUIN RESERVOIR

Located in the western sector of the Gouin Reservoir, about 280 kilometers from the urban sector of La Tuque or the city of Mont-Laurier, is The Walleye Point. Our location allows fishing enthusiasts to fish nearby and, for the adventurous, to boat across the southern bay, the northern bay and the eastern bay of the Gouin reservoir.

The cradle of hydroelectricity, the Mauricie has 32 Hydro-Québec reservoirs in the Saint-Maurice watershed, including the marvelous playground that is the Gouin reservoir, a magnificent 1,789 square km of water. The Gouin Reservoir bears the title of jewel of Haute-Mauricie. This is where the finest walleye and pike fishing in Quebec is practiced.

In order to ensure the sustainability of fish resources and the success of fishing at the Gouin Reservoir, the Community Wildlife Area sees to good wildlife management and the study of the quality and quantity of walleye and big pike. To fish in the Gouin Reservoir, in addition to the provincial fishing permit, a right of access from the AFC Gouin is therefore mandatory.
